Event Photographer’s life:

Being a videographer and photographer in Sydney certainly, has its perks.  One of those perks is being able to work in beautiful locations. At the top of my list is the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Not only is filled with breathtaking views but add pieces of stunning sculpture from around the world to the mix and its a match made in heaven.

GCImagery have been privileged to shoot 6 Bondi exhibitions of Sculpure by the Sea and 4 in Cottesloe in Perth. Each year I enjoy it more and more. Learning the stories and meanings behind the work makes them so much more remarkable. We filmed 10 artist interviews this year, produced a highlights video, shot 11 days of photography and shot a corporate video for Sydney Water. It was exhausting but I was actually sad when it was all over.

Videography in Sydney

Seeing Peter’s work emerging from the ground was a real WOW moment for me. That’s what I love about being a videographer. Capturing these moments in time that are so unique. That tells a bigger picture and give you insight into how these works are created.

Some of the works you get lost in, others may make you laugh but when you look closely you see a deeper meaning. Take Marina Debris’ work The Inconvenience Store for example. It is made up of trash that she has found locally on Bondi and Tamarama Beaches but she has repackaged it to show the pointless wastage. Unfortunately, the trash in the store is only a small percentage of what she has collected. Hopefully, the message gets across and people think twice before discarding their plastic waste.

If you are ever thinking about visiting Sculpture by the Sea my TOP TIP would be to go early for sunrise or later in the day at sunset.

Also, don’t forget to buy a catalogue. Reading the meanings behind the work really does make you look at them in a different light.

And don’t forget your camera! Photography in Bondi never looked so good. I’ll leave you with a couple of my favourite shots. 🙂
